Pharmacist
Under the direction of a physician, compounds and dispenses prescribed drugs. Also
responsible for transferring prescriptions, handling incoming physician calls, logging
data into the computer, and drug utilization review. Requires a bachelor's degree
and/or an advanced degree in pharmacy and valid license to practice.
Pharmacy Technician
Under the direct supervision of a registered pharmacist, compounds and dispenses
medical prescriptions. May be expected to perform some clerical duties relating
to the department. Receives and stores incoming supplies. Verifies stock and enters
data in computer to maintain inventory records. Requires a high school diploma or
its equivalent and certification from the State Board of Pharmacy. Typically reports
to a manager or supervisor.
